Beginning November 1, 2025, Premier Medical Group providers and facilities will no longer be considered in-network with UnitedHealthcare. UnitedHealthcare has already informed its Medicare Advantage HMO members of this change. As your healthcare provider, we want to make sure all patients with UnitedHealthcare coverage understand what this may mean for their care.

This change may impact your coverage. Depending on your plan, you could be responsible for higher, out-of-network costs when seeing your Premier provider. We strongly encourage you to contact UnitedHealthcare directly – using the number on your insurance card – to learn how your plan will cover services from Premier while we are out of network.

At Premier, your health and well-being remain our top priority. We have been waiting for UnitedHealthcare to engage in active negotiations with us, and we remain hopeful that we can soon reach an agreement that prioritizes patient care and access.

Our team is committed to regaining in-network status as quickly as possible. In the meantime, please know that you can continue to depend on Premier for the high-quality care you deserve, though your costs may be higher during this period.

YOUR CARE MATTERS, HERE ARE ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS CHANGE:
  • Which UnitedHealthcare insurance plans are impacted?
    • UnitedHealthcare commercial plans and UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans.

  • Will UnitedHealthcare Medicare Supplemental Plans be impacted?
    • UnitedHealthcare Medicare Supplemental Plans will not be impacted.

  • Will the Empire Plan be impacted?
    • The Empire Plan will not be impacted.

  • How will my coverage change if Premier Medical Group is no longer in-network with UnitedHealthcare?
    • We remain committed to providing the care you need. After November 1, you can continue to see your providers at Premier Medical Group on an out-of-network basis. Please be aware that, if Premier is out of network with UnitedHealthcare, the amount your plan covers may be reduced, and your out-of-pocket costs could increase. For details about your specific coverage, we encourage you to contact UnitedHealthcare directly by calling the phone number on the back of your insurance card.

  • If I have an impacted UnitedHealthcare plan, what do I do if I have an appointment scheduled after November 1, 2025?
    • We will be here to provide the care you need, and, after November 1st, you can continue to access Premier Medical Group on an out of network basis. It is important that you know that the amount UnitedHealthcare covers and what you may have to pay out of pocket for services received from Premier Medical Group would likely increase if Premier Medical Group is out of network with UnitedHealthcare. Please contact UnitedHealthcare for further information related to your specific plan coverage.

  • How will my claim be processed after November 1st  if Premier Medical Group is out of network with UnitedHealthcare?
    • Starting November 1, 2025, Premier will no longer be able to submit claims to UnitedHealthcare on your behalf. Payment will be collected at the time of service, and we will provide you with a detailed receipt and itemized statement so you can file your claim directly with UnitedHealthcare.

  • What can I do to protect my in-network access to Premier Medical Group?  While our negotiations with UnitedHealthcare continue, you can take these steps to protect your access to in-network care with Premier Medical Group:
    • Call UnitedHealthcare. Using the number on the back of your insurance card, let UnitedHealthcare know how vital it is to have in-network access to your trusted Premier Medical Group provider.
    • If you are covered by a UnitedHealthcare Medicare plan, you can explore alternative insurance options during the upcoming open enrollment season.  Medicare Open Enrollment runs from October 15 to December 7 each year, allowing you to change your Medicare Advantage plan. During this period, you can switch to Original Medicare or choose a different Medicare Advantage plan.  Premier accepts a wide range of plans including MVP, Aetna, and Anthem BC/BS.  Changes made during Open Enrollment take effect January 1.

  • Whom should I call with questions?
    • Please call the phone number on the back of your UnitedHealthcare ID card if you have any questions about how this would affect your access to the care team you know and trust.

We remain fully dedicated to delivering exceptional care and will continue advocating for a resolution that prioritizes you, our patients.
