Actinic keratoses (AK) are growths that are pre-cancerous cells. Although not all progress to become skin cancer, we try to remove them in order to prevent this from happening.
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) uses light or laser energy to act against precancerous cells (actinic keratosis).
PDT is approved by the FDA for the treatment of actinic keratosis, which is considered precancerous. When PDT is used to treat actinic keratosis, more than 80% of patients respond after 1 to 2 treatments, one month apart.
PDT for actinic keratosis may be covered by your insurance. To learn more about Photodynamic Therapy, please call our office 845-451-7272
Premier’s Dermatology division specializes in the following cosmetic treatments.
Botox® – Botulinum toxin relaxes facial muscles so that they do not contract, resulting in reduced appearance of unwanted facial wrinkles. It can help to smooth frown lines, Crow’s feet and forehead lines.
Juvederm® and Voluma® are dermal fillers that are injected under the skin to restore volume and fullness to the face, smoothing moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds. They can help to plump thin lips, soften facial creases, improve the appearance of depressed scars and enhance shallow contours of the face.
Fractionated Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Laser is the gold standard in laser skin resurfacing and improves appearance by affecting only a fraction of your skin at a time with thousands of tiny microscopic laser spots. It produces dramatic results in skin appearance for sun damage, deep wrinkles, acne scars and surgical scars.
Chemical peels improve the tone, texture and clarity of skin. It employs a chemical solution to remove the damaged, outermost layer of the skin. It can help to improve acne or acne scars, age spots, freckles, fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, scars, rough skin and scaly patches and sun-damaged skin.
