Premier Medical Group to Offer Xiaflex for Treatment of Peyronie’s Disease

Premier Medical Group is excited to announce that their Urology Division will soon be one of the first in the area to offer a newly approved, nonsurgical treatment for Peyronie’s disease.

Xiaflex is an FDA approved prescription medicine used to treat adult men with Peyronie’s disease who have a “plaque” that can be felt and a curve in their penis greater than 30 degrees when treatment is started.

A treatment course for Peyronie’s disease consists of four treatment cycles over several months. Each treatment cycle consists of two Xiaflex injection procedures. In these procedures Xiaflex is injected directly into the collagen-containing structure of the penis and a penile modeling procedure will also be performed.

Xiaflex is already covered by most insurance plans for treatment of Duputren’s contracture but not yet for the treatment of Peyronie’s disease. Given the recent FDA approval, it is predicted that coverage by major commercial insurances will follow in the near future. Financial assistance may be available to eligible patients without health insurance benefits who meet specific program criteria including income requirements.

Premier Medical Group Urologists Dr. Evan Goldfischer and Dr. Naeem Rahman are currently enrolled as providers in the Xiaflex certification program and hope to be able to provide this treatment to their patients in the very near future.
