We’re making an important update to our systems at Premier Medical Group and we want you, our patients, to feel prepared and confident every step of the way.
On May 12, we transitioned to a new electronic health record (EHR) system – athenaOne. Because your patient portal is directly connected to this system, you’ll also see changes to how you access and manage your health information online.
This upgrade is designed to improve your overall experience. Over time, you’ll benefit from a more streamlined, user-friendly portal with better access to your medical information and tools to help you stay on top of your care. That said, any system change can take a little getting used to, and we appreciate your patience as we make this transition.
As with all of the data in our current system, your medical records will be securely transferred to the new system. However, to help ensure everything goes smoothly during your first visit after May 12, we ask that you bring your insurance card with you and arrive about 20 mins early. This will allow us to quickly confirm your information if anything needs to be updated.
Please note that access to your current Patient Portal will no longer be available beginning Friday, May 8. Your health history is now in the process of being transferred to your AthenaHealth patient portal. We anticipate all of your records will be available on the AthenaHealth portal within 6-10 weeks after go-live. If you need access to your past medical records prior to this full transition, please get in touch with your provider’s office #1-888-632-6099
Our goal with this change is to make your care experience easier, more connected, and more accessible. We’re here to support you through this transition and are confident this upgrade will bring lasting benefits to your care.

The patient portal through AthenaHealth is a personalized one-stop shop that enables you to:
- Message doctors and the office staff right from the portal. Messaging is secure, and you can include attachments.
- Check and manage all your prescriptions.
- Request appointments, get reminders, and reschedule, all in one place.
- Pay bills online right from the portal.
- Get real-time pathology and lab updates. Check 24/7 for immediate lab and pathology updates that are seamlessly synced and integrated into your portal.

Five Fascinating Facts about EHR
- Today, over 90% of all hospitals and 70% of all medical offices in the United States offer patient portals. Patients find that they get faster access to their information, and healthcare providers believe the portals improve patient care.**
- EHRs are central to modern healthcare. They not only empower patients to get involved in their own healthcare and communicate better with their doctors, but they provide essential benefits to doctors and their staff. By automating functions like appointment scheduling, insurance verifications and billing, healthcare facilities can reduce human error, enhance productivity, and streamline operations, leaving more time for patient care and interactions.***
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) is making EHR systems smarter, faster, and easier to use. How? By automating tasks such as data entry, scheduling issues, and generating reports, doctors and their staff have more time to focus on patient care. AI also helps clinicians predict health risks, suggest diagnoses, and recommend treatments in real time. For example, AI can flag potential drug interactions or predict complications days before symptoms appear!****
- Care teams collaborate better. EHR has made it possible for multiple providers to access and contribute to the same record, which improves coordination and avoids miscommunication. Imagine that a patient was just diagnosed with a serious illness where they need to see specialists and get various tests. Every doctor and nurse associated with the patient can see the patient’s schedule, discuss results with one another, view the patient’s history, and view recommendations.
- EHR systems create a single, detail-rich story of the patient. This is an important and often overlooked feature of EHR and patient portals. Most of us might not remember exactly when we had our last vaccinations, what year we had our surgery, when our last colonoscopy was, or what our blood work looked like 10 years ago. The EHR system is like a medical diary and enables both patients and doctors to look back in time.
