Dr. Farshad Elmi is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He attended medical school at Tehran University of Medical Sciences and then moved to the United States to continue his medical education. Dr. Elmi completed his internship at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut and medical residency at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.

He then served as medical faculty at University of Iowa, School of Medicine where he taught medical students and house staff for three years. He then did a Fellowship in Gastroenterology & Hepatology at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. During his time in Iowa, he also attended School of Public Health at University of Iowa and obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Investigation.

Dr. Elmi then moved to New Haven, Connecticut where he did a fourth year fellowship in Advanced Endoscopy at Yale University.  He has received extensive training in all diagnostic & therapeutic endoscopic procedures including Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and Endoscopic Ultrasound with fine needle aspiration (EUS with FNA). Dr. Elmi has an interest in general Gastroenterology and various endoscopic procedures, particularly EUS, and has published extensively in several medical journals. He joined the practice in 2010.
